--- Database systems grow along with our applications. As companies mature, you may need to upgrade your database system due to scaling needs or increased performance requirements. In this blogpost we'll go over a sample migration from MySQL 5.7 to MySQL 8.0. ## What's new in MySQL 8.0 MySQL version 8 introduces significant improvements. The new [collation](https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/charset-collation.html), utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci, is now the default one. It supports Unicode Version 9.0. {{< youtube id="JePJ_z8Axrc" start="0" end="240" >}} MySQL 8 also introduces indexes over JSON documents which allow efficient querying JSON data. Furthermore, MySQL 8 introduces virtual columns which can be used to derive columns based on other columns values. ## Prepare your server In order to upgrade from MySQL 5.7 to MySQL 8.0 you'll need: * A fresh deployment of MySQL 8.0 server
* Two instances of MySQL client one for MySQL version 5.7 and another for MySQL version 8.0 To get MySQL client binaries you can download it [here](https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/) or if you are running Arch Linux or a derivative, you can download it using pacman: sh
pacman -S mysql ## Prepare Data The first thing you'll need to do is exporting your data from MySQL version 5.7 using `mysqldump` or `mysqlbackup` tools: sh
mysqldump -u user --password=secret database > database.sql To make sure your data will be imported correctly into MySQL version 8.0 you will need to grant all grants: sh
mysqldump -u root --password=secret -B information_schema mysql > grants.sql ## Import Data Now that you've got `dabatase.sql` file with your data, move it over to your MySQL version 8.0 server. First make sure MySQL version 8.0 server is up and running: sh
systemctl status mysqld.service You then need to login using MySQL version 5.7 client and grant necessary permissions to update the `global_variables` table: sql
mysql -u root -p --password=secret -Dmysql
GRANT ALL ON mysql.* TO 'root'@'%'; Next import `grants.sql` file: sh
mysql -u root --password=secret database mysql /path/to/grants.sql
exit Now login using MySQL version 8.0 client: sh
mysql --protocol tcp -u root --password=secret --host localhost Finally import your data using `source` command: sql
source /path/to/database.sql;
exit ## Switch over At this point you've got all your data in MySQL version 8.0 server. Next you need to update your application pointing to the new database server. If all goes well you should be able to access your application and keep developing! ## Troubleshooting ### Error During Import `ERROR 1005 (HY000) at line xx: Can't create table 'database_name/xxxx' (errno: x)` **Possible causes** * InnoDB log files incompatible with mysql server version. **Solution** - Stop MySQL server - Clear `ib_logfile1` and `ib_logfile2` - Restart MySQL server If problems persists try importing data without grant statements: `mysqldump -u user --password=secret --no-create-info database > database.sql` Try importing again using `source` command. ### Unable to Import Grants `ERROR: Can't find file: 'Grants'` **Possible causes** * File doesn't exist or server not running. **Solution** - Create `grants.sql` file again. ### Unable to Connect From Application `Access Denied for user ''@'APPLICATION_IP' (using password: NO)` **Possible causes** * User trying to login doesn't exist. **Solution** - Import `grants.sql` file. - Ensure user exists. ### Application Errors Check if any [new reserved word](https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/keywords.html) breaks queries. <|repo_name|>authing/docs<|file_sep|>/content/en/docs/en/guides/integrate-with/-jp/snipe-it.md

--- # How To Use Authing With Snipe-IT This tutorial will walk you through integrating [Snipe-IT](https://snipeit.app/) with Authing for an enhanced user authentication and authorization experience within your software system. ## Integrate OIDC OpenID Connect (OIDC) is an open authentication protocol that allows Logins across multiple software systems using a single account ID like Google, Facebook, or Authing account ID. It's recommended that you use OpenID Connect (OIDC) or SAML for external authentication integration since these protocols support digital signature verification, enhancing security. Authing's OpenID Connect (OIDC) relies on Amazon Cognito's high-performance service components, ensuring optimal authentication performance. ### Configuration Steps 1. Log in to [Authing](https://console.authing.cn/login) and navigate to **Application Integration > OIDC Application**. 2. Create a new OIDC application by clicking **Create an application** and choosing **Custom** as the type. :::note
You can also select **SNIPES** from the template library.
::: 3. Complete the application information and click **Confirm**. 4. Next, configure access URL. Set a login redirect URL where Snipe-IT will redirect users after successful authentication. 5. Click **Confirm** after configuration is complete. 6. Keep note of **Application Client ID** and **Application Client Secret**, which will be used later when linking this OIDC application with Snipe-It. 7. In Snipe-IT settings, select **Settings & Configuration > Authentication**, enter **Application Client ID** & **Application Client Secret**, then click **Save**. 8. In Snipe-IT settings, select **
